I've been doing a lot of 80's post lately so here is one with 5 songs that popped up on my iPod this week. One is from the 80's but the rest are fairly recent.
Kings of Leon - Use Somebody
This is the 2nd single from their breakout hit album, "Only By The Night". I didn't realize this made it to number 4 on the US Charts in 2008. Great song.
The XX - Swept Away
This is an album track from their second album, "Coexist". They remind me of the duet from Jesus and Mary Chain with Hope Sandoval, "Sometimes Always".
The Outfield - Say It Isn't So
This was the first single from their debut release, "Play Deep". It didn't do much. It wasn't until their huge hit, "Your Love" was released that this album took off. It's still one of my all time favorites.
Death Cab For Cutie - I Will Follow You Into The Dark
Quite possibly one of the worst names for a band ever. Good thing this is a great song and it doesn't matter. The lyrics are amazing.
Bruno Mars - Locked Out Of Heaven
I don't think there are many true pop stars these days. This guy is one of them though. I'm really looking forward to his new CD, "Unorthodox Jukebox".
