6 Great Songs From The 80's Volume 14

I love this extra free time. Blogs galore. It's amazing how much music you can forget as the years roll on. I listened to these 6 songs so much back in the day and haven't heard them much in at least 10 years.

This Mortal Coil - Song To The Siren
This was a side project for Ivo Watts-Russell, who was a producer for The Cocteau Twins and Elizabeth Fraser who sang lead for them. It's a cover of a Tim Buckley song from 1970.

Julian Cope - World Shut Your Mouth
This from the former Teardrop Explodes front man's 3rd solo album "St Julian". Interestingly enough, it's not from his first solo album, "World Shut Your Mouth".

Echo and the Bunnymen - The Cutter
I've been on a huge Echo kick lately. This is from their 3rd album, 1983's "Cutter"

Lloyd Cole - Perfect Skin
This was Lloyd Cole's first single from the 1984 album, "Rattlesnakes. It reached number 26 in the UK.

The The - This Is The Day
I don't even remember how I first learned of The The. This wasn't even a big hit initially in the UK, only reaching number 71. It's from the 1983 album, "Soul Mining".

Thomas Dolby - Hyperactive
This was the first single off of the album, "The Flat Earth". It went nowhere in the US and so he became a one hit wonder. If I had my way, he would have had more hits including this one. Great song.
