My Top 5 Cheap Trick Songs

Today is Robin Zander's 60th birthday. Cheap Trick has always been one of my favorite bands. I put them in the Hall and Oates category in that they had a lot of success but not ever put in the all time greats category by the "experts". In the grand scheme of things, I don't care. Music has never been about what is cool, just what I like. Cheap Trick was an odd success story in that they released a bunch of stuff that failed to chart. They ultimately hit it big with a live version of a previously released song. Their initial success was in Japan. Once that song hit it big, many of their previous songs became "known".
Enjoy

5. Cheap Trick - Surrender

This is the first single from their third album "Heaven Tonight". It was released in 1978 and reached number 62 on the US Charts. It was their first charting single.

4. Cheap Trick - I Want You To Want Me (Live)
Buy On Amazon

Originally released in 1977 as the first single off of their second album "In Color", it failed to chart. It was then released as a single from their 1978 album "Cheap Trick at Budokan.". It hit number 7 in the US and paved the way for a long career.

3. Cheap Trick - Mandocello

This is an album track from their self titled debut album. It was released in 1977.

2. Cheap Trick - Southern Girls

Released in 1977 as the second single from their second album "In Color". It did not chart.

1. Cheap Trick - I Can't Take It

Released as the second single from their 1983 album "Next Position Please". It did not chart either but in my opinion is one the great power pop songs of all time.

"Come On Come On", "Oh Candy" and "So Good To See You" also are great and just missed the cut.
