6 Great Songs From the 70's Volume 5

The 70's were an amazing time for music. The California sound was everywhere on the radio and Jeff Lynne of ELO was on his way to becoming a force in the music industry. Here are a few great songs from the 70's.

Electric Light Orchestra - Livin' Thing
ELO has to be one of my all time favorite bands. It's amazing how quickly you can forget about great bands like that. They had twenty Top 20 US Chart Hits. This is from their  7th album, "A New World Record". It was released in 1977.

J.D. Souther - You're Only Lonely
This was JD Souther's only hit record. It was a big one, reaching number 1 in 1979. He was also very involved in writing for other artists such as Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor and Glen Frey.

Supertramp - Goodbye Stranger
Supertramp released their first album in 1970 but hit super stardom with their release of their huge hit, "Breakfast in America" in  1979.

Elvin Bishop - Fooled Around And Fell In Love
Elvin Bishop had been around for years but in 1976 scored this huge hit from the album,"Struttin' My Stuff'. The track featured Mickey Thomas on vocals who would later join Starship.

Linda Ronstadt - When Will I Be Loved
Linda had been touring and releasing albums for ten years and barely made a dent on the music scene until she released "Heart Like A Wheel" in 1974. It was a huge number 1 album and featured this US number 2 song.

Fleetwood Mac - Monday Morning
Fleetwod Mac was a relatively unknown band in the US. That all changed when Lindsay Buckinghan and Stevie Nicks joined in 1975. The first album with the new members was self titled and sold 5 million copies in the US alone. It was only a precursor of things to come. This song was the first song on the album and was not released as a single.
