6 Great Songs From the 70's Volume 2

Every time I do these decade themed posts, I always think that this is the best decade. Each one has a special place for me. The 70's were right before I started high school so I wasn't choosing a lot of my own music, just what was fed to me over the radio. Even still, I have a lot of great memories of some of these songs.

Andy Kim - Rock Me Gently
Great song. Many people think this was Neil Diamond for some reason. He was a one hit wonder but it was a pretty big hit.  He also co-wrote Sugar Sugar for the Archies in the 60's so I'm assuming he's not hurting for money.

Boz Skaggs - Look What You've Done To Me
Boz Skaggs had a nice run of hits in the late 70's with Lido Shuffle and Lowdown. He also was a member of the Steve Miller Band for their first two albums in the late 60's. This song was from the soundrack to Urban Cowboy (technically 1980)

Teri Desario - Yes, I'm Ready (w KC)
Another one hit wonder and it took singing a duet with a huge star at the time to do it. This was a cover of a song originally released in the 60's by Barbara Mason. The money is in the songwriting so I'm assuming Barbra made some nice cash on this one. This reminds me of my time spent at Skateland.

Andrew Gold - Lonely Boy
Andrew Gold also had a string of success both solo, with 10cc and his 80's band Wax. He is most commonly known for his huge hit, "Thank You For Being A Friend" which was later used for the theme to Golden Girls. I always thought he was a hugely talented pop writer but he never made it to that level. I just found out he died in 2011.

The Babys - Every Time I Think Of You
I didn't know much about The Babys when they were out but became a huge fan of John Waite, the lead singer, when his solo album "Ignition" came out in 1981. I then went back and discovered The Babys albums. He also had a nice run as a solo artist and as the lead singer of Bad English.

Gary Wright - Love Is Alive
Gary Wright is one of those guys who has one huge album and then can never find that success again. He had two number 2 songs off of the Dream Weaver album, this one and the title track Dream Weaver. He has continued to release albums ever since and did have a medium size hit with "Really Wanna Know You" in 1981.
