6 Great Songs From the 70's Volume 6

Here's a quick list from the 70's. I've been on a Cheap Trick kick lately so of course of I included one by them.

Van Halen - Beautiful Girls
This is the second single from their second album "Van Halen II". It reached number 84. It's amazing how many songs you know from an album that only had 1 hit single.

Cheap Trick - Southern Girls
I was reminded of this song because Mike Doughty covered it on his latest album. This is the second single from their second album "In Colour". It did not chart but interestingly, "I Want You To Want Me" didn't either as the first single. It didn't become a hit until it was later released as a live song from "Cheap Trick at Budokan".

Rainbow - Since You Been Gone
This is the first single from the 1979 album "Down To Earth". This is another band who didn't really have a lot of hits in the US but you know them. Their only US Top 40 hit was "Stone Cold" in 19982.

Steve Forbert - Romeo's Tune
I totally forgot about this song until it popped in my head the other day. It reached number 11 and is from the album "Jackrabbit Slim".

Al Stewart - Year Of The Cat
Al Stewart had 2 top ten songs in the US. This is from his 1976 album of the same name, "Year of The Cat".

Jefferson Starship - Jane
This was a top ten song from the 1979 album "Freedom At Point Zero". It was the first album with Mickey Thomas as lead singer. He previously scored a huge with as the lead singer of Elvin Bishop's "Fooled Around and Fell In Love".
