6 Great Songs From the 80's Volume 13

The 80's had so many different sounds. Many were heavily synth based sounds. Here are 5 in that genre and then one that had a whole different sound.

Camouflage - The Great Commandment
Camouflage is a German synth band who released their debut album in 1987. They had a very similar sound to Depeche Mode. Their only US hit reached number 59.

Scritti Politti - Perfect Way
Scritti Politti is a band from Yorkshire England. Although they had several minor hits and a bunch worldwide, this one reached number 11 on the US charts. Interestingly enough, this song was not a huge hit anywhere else.

The Innocence Mission - Black Sheep Wall
I heard this song in the early days of WHFS back in 1989. I hadn't thought about the Innocence Mission since until I heard another song of theirs, "Evensong" in the movie, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower".

Heaven 17 - Let Me Go
This was another 80's synth band that came out during the time Human League was making it big. Although they never charted here in the US, they had a string of hits in the UK.

Alphaville - Big In Japan
The first single off of their debut album, "Forever Young", it reached number 66 here in the US, only 1 spot worse than their worldwide hit, "Forever Young". I find that odd considering how much more "known" I thought "forever young" to be.

Bronski Beat - Hit That Perfect Beat Boy
Bronski Beat was the first band that Jimmy Somerville would appear in. He would later sing for the band "The Communards" and as a solo artist.
