Friends Top List Series (Stacey Murray Desch All Time Top 10)

Here is another very great response to my request from my friends for their "All Time Top Ten" list. Here is Stacey Murray Desch's All Time Top 10 with some great notes for each song.

10 Stevie Ray Vaughan - Little Wing
I heard this when I was in 11th grade in my boyfriends car; my first experience with blues (and I've been hooked ever since). His version of this still gives me goosebumps.

9 Pink Floyd - Mother
I struggled with this one! Pink Floyd has been my favorite band of all time since I was in 7th grade. Comfortably Numb was the first song I had ever heard by them, but quickly - Wish You Were Here, Pigs on the Wing, & Mother were among top favs, as well. Why did Mother make it my favorite for this list? The guitar solo at 2:51. It gets me every time.

8 Janis Joplin - Work Me, Lord
Many nights were spent in my apartment on Charles Street (my 20's!) with the lights out, a bottle of wine, and this song rattling the windows. The album, I Got Dem Ol' Kozmic Blues Again, Mama, is one of my favorite albums of all time. Maybe & Little Girl Blue are other fav tunes of hers.

7 Eva Cassidy - People Get Ready
I adore a good female powerhouse. And Eva, unfortunately, died way before her time. She was so amazingly blessed as an artist. Rarely did she ever need to do a second take on a song; she was known for singing, at all times, so impeccably well. Her album, Live at Blues Alley is a perfect example, and this song was always my favorite. She was meant for high notes!

6 Maxwell - Pretty Wings
I've always been a fan of him and his soul. I had trouble choosing between this and This Woman's Work.

5 Jill Scott - A Long Walk
Her lyricism is mind-blowing and she's so extremely talented. She is also quite amazing to see in concert. She bleeds confidence! This was another one that probably aggravated my neighbors on Charles Street. [:-)]

4 Brandi Carlisle - Turpentine
I first saw her on MPT years ago and was completely hooked. Her voice is so rich, and the twins that play with her just complete the band with their harmonies. She is one of my favorite acts to see live.

3 Cold War Kids - Audience
As I grow older, my musical interests are shifting. It's been quite an enjoyable ride! This song would be an example. When I run the trails at Oregon Ridge, this song is always playing.

2 The Raconteurs - Consolers of the Lonely
Ah, I just love this one. The change in the tempo through the song is great, and I just adore Jack White in here.

1 Muse - Uprising
Love, love, love this one. It just screams kick-ass and regardless of how I walk in the gym, this just forces you to get in the zone and knock it out. This one is definitely my anthem choice
