5 Songs That Should Have Been Bigger Hits Than They Were Volume 1

I listen to a lot of music. I find songs from so many different sources that I lose track if they were ever hits at all. What got me thinking about this was my number 1 song for 2011, Gotye's song "Somebody That I Used To Know". When I first heard it back in October, I thought, "what a cool different song?"
I assumed that it would become one of those great songs that no one knows. The other day, a friend of mine told me that she just heard it on Mix 106.5. This is a station that if the song is played on their station, it will not be one of "those" songs.  Looking back, sometimes I'm surprised that not only were songs not hits but they either bombed or no one knows them at all. Here are 5 tracks that I can't believe weren't huge hits.

Cheap Trick -  I Can't Take It
I was always a huge fan of Cheap Trick. This one blew me away when I first heard and it still does. It did not make the top 40.

Jenny Morris - You I Know
Jenny Morris was popular for a while in Australia. She sang background vocals for INXS and had a pretty big hit there with this song. It was written by Neil Finn of Crowded House. It did not make the top 40 in the us although it was a pretty big hit in Australia.

Kitchens of Distinction - Drive That Fast
I didn't know much about Kitchens of Distinction. I think WHFS played them for a brief period. They had a simliar sound to a few other bands that were out during the early 90's. It did not make the US top 40 but was a modern rock hit.

The Korgis - Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime
This is a very obscure band from the late 70's early 80's. The Dream Academy and Beck both covered this great song. It made it to number 18 but I don't remember it being that big of a hit.

Roger Daltrey - Without Your Love
I am a huge fan of The Who. They always seemed just a little more towards my taste in music than the Beatles and The Rolling Stones. I also loved how they evolved through the 70's and into the 80's. This song was from a movie that Roger Daltrey starred in. It was not a big hit but did get to #20.
