Friends Top List Series (Stacey Murray Desch Top 10 for 2011)

I emailed a bunch of my music friends and asked for their Top 10 for 2011 and their All Time Top 10. I got a bunch of great responses. Stacey did a great job with both and added some great comments for each one.  Here's her Top 10 for 2011. Enjoy.

10 Young the Giant - My Body
Love his voice. I can definitely remember the first time I heard this song this year. Cough Syrup is just as good.

9 Radiohead - Lotus Flower
I was so excited to hear new stuff from Radiohead this year. I am probably one of the VERY few that loves this song more because I think the video is hypnotizing.

8 AWOLNation - Sail
Aaron Bruno is genius here. The band was named after his high school nick name (Awol). He was known for leaving without saying goodbye; stating it was just easier that way. I also love Not Your Fault.

7  Fun. - We Are Young
Such a catchy little tune. I’ve not grown tired of it and can’t wait for more from them!

6  The Wombats - Jump Into the Fog
Probably one of my top for 2011. I play this one quite often.

5 M83 - Midnight City
Love that this echoes the 80’s. Oddly, I was never a huge fan of the 80’s (you probably just cringed!), however, I’m totally into the new bands that echo the 80’s. Strange, right?

4 Atlas Genius - Trojans
Can’t wait to watch this band go far. It reminds me of the first time I ever heard Foster the People. It’s a catch-22. You want the band to make it, but you dread the moment you realize the song will be WAY overplayed. Speaking of Foster the People, let’s discuss my next pick!

3 Foster the People - Don’t Stop (Color on the Walls)
Obviously Pumped Up Kicks was the first song introduced by them this year. However, I love this one much better.

2 The Head and the Heart - Lost In My Mind
More on the mellow side but I absolutely adore this. I’m a sucker for great harmony drenched in piano and strings. This is a great one!

1 Iron and Wine - Godless Brother In Love
Another great slower tune. Very mellow; very soothing. Great harmony here, as well.
