Best of Biffy Volume 1 - The Top 10 If You Don't Know Them

To say that Tina and I have become huge Biffy Clyro fans is an understatement. We are both big music fans but as you get older, music starts to sound tired. That changed for us in 2011. It was a rainy Saturday afternoon and Tina was in the living room watching the 2011 Glastonbury Festival on Palladia ( MTV Live). She said, "You have to see this band" There was this band playing in front of  a 100K people. They all seemed to know the song (Many of Horror). I had never heard of them but was blown away and thought "how could this many people know these songs and not be worth checking out?" I bought the Only Revolutions CD and was hooked. I then bought their next few cd's and was a fan (or so I thought). We have talked about if they ever toured near us (Ocean City Md) we should go to see them. On Friday April 4th 2017, we  (Tina, our daughter Katie and her friend Lynn) saw them at The Theatre of Living Arts in Philly. We were blown away by the power of the songs. We have been to a lot of live shows and we agreed this was the best we have ever seen. It changed how we viewed them which was already pretty good. The obsession started. I was hooked. I was hooked the way I was hooked on The Counting Crows album "August and Everything After" but with all of their albums. We saw them again in Baltimore in May and going to Baltimore again in September. I wondered how others don't know them. That being said, if I had to make a list of 10 songs of theirs to try and convert someone this would be it.They are not necessarily my favorites ( that list will come later) but definitely their most accessible songs in my opinion  .
Enjoy

10. Biffy Clyro  -  Sounds Like Balloons

.Sounds Like Balloons is the 3rd track from the Opposites double album from 2013. It was not released as a single but is very prominent in their live shows. It has some odd lyrics but has become one of my favorites.

9. Biffy Clyro  -  Howl

Howl is the 3rd single from the 2016 album Ellipsis. It is probably their most played song on US Rock Radio stations.

8. Biffy Clyro  -  Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies

Living Is a Problem Because Everything Dies was the 3rd single from the 2006 album Puzzle. It was a huge hit in the UK and Scotland. It has a very Nirvana influenced sound. They play it at almost every live show.

7. Biffy Clyro  -  Re-Arrange

Re-Arrange is the 4th single from the Ellipsis. It reached number one in the UK.

6. Biffy Clyro  -  Biblical

Biblical is the 2nd single from the 2013 Opposites album. It's amazing live and has a really great video.

5. Biffy Clyro  -  Machines

Machines is the 5th single from the 2007 album Puzzle. Its one of the the first songs I heard from them although that was a live version from the Glastonbury Festival in 2011. It has evolved into a much more powerful song over the years the more they perform it.

4. Biffy Clyro  -  Folding Stars

Folding Stars was the 4th single from Puzzle. It was written about his feelings about the death of his Mother Eleanor. It's another amazing song live that has evolved from the original.

3. Biffy Clyro  -  57

57 is the 3rd single from their 2002 debut album Blackened Sky. You can also hear their Nirvana influences in this one.

2. Biffy Clyro  -  The Captain

The Captain is the 3rd single from the 2009 album Only Revolutions. I may have listened to this 25 times time straight at one point this year.

1. Biffy Clyro  -  Many of Horror

The song that made us notice them when we saw them performed it at the 2011 Glastonbury Festival on Palladia.
