6 Great Songs From The 80's Volume 21

First of all, Happy New Year. This is my first post of 2013. I'll start with an 80's post. All were found on YouTube but one was not found on Spotify. As I post a Spotify playlist, sometimes since the songs can be rare, they not be complete playlists. Enjoy

Link to Spotify. If you do not have an account, create a free one after clicking the link below.

X - Burning House Of Love
Buy on Amazon
This is the first song from their 5th album "Ain't Love Grand!". X had achieved some moderate success and this song was in medium rotation on MTV. I was surprised to learn that Ray Manzarek of the Doors had produced their previous 4 albums.

The Godfathers - Birth, School, Work, Death
This is the first single from their 1988 debut album of the same name. It received a lot of airplay on modern rock stations in the US. I still think it's one of the great rock songs of the 80's.

Rhythm Corps - Common Ground
Not On Amazon
I remember 98 Rock in Baltimore playing this song a lot in 1988 and then I never heard from them again. It reached number 9 on the modern rock charts. They would release one more album with very little sales.

Romeo Void - A Girl In Trouble (Is a Temporary Thing)
This is the first single off of the bands 1984 album "Instincts". It was their only top 40 hit although their song "Never Say Never" has become a hit over the years and received a huge amount of airplay in the early days of MTV.

The Alarm - Spirit Of `76
This is the 3rd single from the great 1985 album "Strength". It reached number 22 in the UK and number 27 on the US Modern Rock Charts. They were always overshadowed by U2 but put out some great records in the 80's.

The Boomtown Rats - I Don't Like Mondays
This is from the 1979 album "It's All the Rage". It reached number 1 in the UK but only made it to 79 in the US. It gained some Modern Rock success in the US later with its heavy airplay on the early days of MTV. Bob Geldoff would become more famous in the US with Band Aid and Live Aid Concert. This song has more meaning lately due to it's subject matter. Pearl Jam wrote a similar themed song called Jeremy in the 90's. Just a great song.
