6 Great Christmas Songs Volume 1

I plan to do a bunch of Christmas song posts and have a theme for each one. There are so many Christmas songs it can be mind numbing. I have always been a fan of the songs that are full of heartache and loneliness in the guise of a Christmas song so I decided to do that as my first theme.

Dan Fogelberg - Same Old Lang Syne
I loved this song so much I hated that it was a Holiday Song. It was released in 1980 and reached number 9 on the US Charts.

Prince -  Another Lonely Christmas
Released in 1984, it was the B Side of the single "I Would Die 4 U".

I can't find this on YouTube. Still one of the greatest. I'll keep looking. I'm sure The craziness that is Prince has something to do with it.

Joni Mitchell - River ( It's Coming On Christmas)
This was an album track from the 1971 album "Blue". It was never released as a single but is one of her most popular songs. Amazing song.

U2 - Baby Please Come Home
Originally recorded by Darlene Love, U2's version was released in 1987 on the "Very Special Christmas" charity album.

Walk Off The Earth -  Fairytale of New York
This is a 2011 version of the amazing Pogues song. I didn't think I could like another version more but Walk Of The Earth has done that for me.

The Eagles - Please Come Home For Christmas
Originally recorded and released in 1960 by blues artist Charles Brown, The Eagles released their version in 1978. It reached number 18 on the US Charts.
