My Top 5 REM Songs

 Wow, the last post, of U2 songs has taken off but not for the reasons I expected. It seems that people are very passionate about U2,  some for their love of the band but also for their hatred of the band. Either way, it started some great conversation on Facebook. I will now move on to the next band, REM.
REM is another band that had their "cool unknown" faze, their "move to super stardom" faze and then their "no one seems to care and bored with them" faze. Here is my top 5. Jeff Walter, get ready.








 5. REM - Radio Song (W KRS One)
Released in 1991, "Out Of Time" sold 18 million copies and the band had achieved Mega-Band status. This was the fourth single from that album.

4. REM - Strange Currencies
Off of the "Monster" album, this is one of the more obscure singles. I don't think I have ever heard this song on the radio since. Great track.

3. REM - So Central Rain
This is from the 2nd album, "Reckoning". REM had become a cool college band in 1984 when this was released. Their twangy sound was very different from many of the bands that were hitting it big in the early MTV days.

2. REM - Fall On Me
This was off of the fourth album "Life's Rich Pageant". Alternative College Radio was really taking hold and bands like REM and The Replacements were starting to get commercial airplay. Although not a huge hit, REM was selling a lot of records.

1. REM - Nightswimming
The last track from the album, "Automatic For The People". It was released in 1992, sold 16 million copies and is considered by many as their best album. I agree. It was mature but still had that sound that I loved so much from their earlier albums.
