My Top 5 CD's for 2011

The way I listen to music has dramatically changed since the internet. When I was young, my exposure to music was the radio, magazines, the record store promotional displays and word of mouth. MTV changed that a lot but it was still very hard to find music. That was part of the charm and fun of being a fan of music back then. My other music nerd friends would trek all over Baltimore, in search of that rare music find. Sometimes we were successful, sometimes we weren’t but it was always fun. When I finally found what I was looking for, I would bring it home and play it until I either A, got sick of it or B, hated it. I knew whole albums from beginning to the end. Now, with so much access to music and the shuffle option on my ipod, I don’t get to know albums through and through like I used to. I’m torn as to what is better. I do love the access I have to more and more music and have found so many great songs that I would have never come to know back in the day.
These are my favorite 5 CD’s for 2011

6 Obscure Late 80's - Early 90's Songs

As good as the early 80's were for me musically, the late 80's and early 90's took it to a whole new level. Music seemed to grow up a bit, I guess along with me. The songs didn't seem as innocent. I was living downtown with some of my friends and going to some of the "cool" bars. Hearing this music out with other people made me love this music more. Up until this point, when I went to bars, I heard classic rock. That wasn't for me. This was. Below are 6 great songs that you don't hear too often but was on the repeat cycle for me during those years.

My Top 40 Songs for 2011

My Top 40 Songs for 2011
I figured I would start my music blog with my top 40 for the year 2011. This is not an exact science as to how I came up with these 40 songs. I went through my playlists for the year, grabbed my favorite 50 or so songs. Then got that down to 40 and put them in some sense of order and then wrote a quick explanation of each. Enjoy.
